Found this while I was just sorting through some nickels that I had set aside from roll searching. I guess I didn't notice the absence of a mint mark at the time I set it aside. Looks like a Henning based on a search of the web.

Looks like you might be right there. Congrats. :-)
That's one of the classic counterfeits.

Concur ... Henning indeed and congratulations. There are many CCF posts on these classic counterfeits (words rarely put together). I envy your find ... appears to be genuine to me. Try this prior CCF thread as a start on your knowledge acquisition ... http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/...PIC_ID=53117David

Try to submit it to ICG! ICG now allows for submission of counterfeit coins and will slab them in an "educational" slab!

Neat... but to slab a counterfeit for $7?
*I* need to get into that market. :-)
Seriously.

Nice find! I moved this topic to the US Modern forum to attract attention of the non-CRH Henning fans.

Thanks all! As suggested, I have read the other threads on this topic in CCF and have found them to be both interesting and informative.

Nice find! You have a 1944 Henning without the "hole in the R".
