is your first picture backwards? because if the coin was actually like that, it would be a major error

I don't think that would even be possible. Unless the end of the die broke off onto this coin. Right? I'm still learning, don't take my word for it.

I'm not an error expert but if you look at the shadow and highlight areas on both sides of the coin and the white surface it sits on it seems evedent the obverse is in relief just like the reverse. This at least would eliminate an early brokage strike from the list of possibilities.

I am thinking that the image was flipped. Here is a poor image I took from the internet and flipped - at least you can see what it does.

note the shadows in the images....to make the light source match it is apparent the obverse image has been flipped from its original format
