My fiancee just got back from our little LCS and she said he was charging $7 per Half, for any year, pre-65 junk silver. Seemed a little high to me, but I wasn't sure if that was around the going rate at the moment.

I would think....at $7 per half a LCS isn't overcharging. They hardly make any profit at all on bullion coins.

Melt as of 7:24pm, 1/2/15 for a half is about $5.70
For $7 (and a good VF/XF/ish piece to boot), I am not complaining.

$7 would be fair as long as they didn't tack on sales tax.

Right now Provident beats my LCS at 12.9 X face in quantity, 13.8 X face( Kennedy halves). I can order and get my coins without leaving my lazyboy.

I paid $7 each without any further tax / charges last week (the day it went up 60 cents before it went down 60 cents the next day of course). I can do better online, but there is the paper trail and shipping and what not. The big what not being quality of coins. I bought two rolls of halves. 26 were walkers, only three were slick, all three of those were 1910's dates. Many from the 20's and 30's suprisingly. 2 1900's Barber halves, one with full rim, the other was close to a full rim. 5 early 50's Franklin halves XFish type shape. The remainder I filled out the last roll with his best Kennedy's I could find. Short version, I don't mind paying $7 each, but no taxes, and I pick my coins out. If there wasn't any variety I probably would have passed at that price honestly.

MY LCS was 13x face about a month ago, I would assume it is the same now. Pretty happy to pick up Walking Liberty's for $6.50.
