Do I think that coin is underpriced? NO! I actually think it's overpriced.
I do not collect any coins from that period, but if I did I would not pay anything for such a poor quality coin. I don't consider myself a buyer of only superior grade coins, but I do have some level where a coin is not worth buying at any price.
Other readers who have experience in older coins might feel differently about this, but my vote is "no".

Err, just because a coin is in low condition does NOT mean that it is worthless.

How is that fair and not P01? Due to the age and coparison to existing coins?

Well first off, it's a Liberty Cap Large Cent. I would sell one like that for about $75 so yeah, slightly under retail.
Obv. details are strong enough to market it at FR2 IMO.

Not much left of this one. I still wouldn't mind it MY collection, anyway. Many are the people besides coin collectors, who would value this piece of early American federated history, regardless of it's condition. Who are the owners of the hands, through which this coin has passed?
With the patination that this coin has, here is a perfect example of a piece that needs to be kept in an environment away from PVC, chlorinated paper and woods that have aggressive resins in them.

Obverse fair-2 ,reverse no grade (cull). I'll take it for historical value, $25-$40. Tony

It's either a S-85 or S-86 both of which are R-5 coins. I'm leaning toward S-85 but would either need better pictures or the coin in hand to tell for sure. So no I don't think it is overpriced.. If I didn't already have both of them I'd buy it. I do find it interesting that the seller calls it a 96 Draped Bust cent though.
