Are there only 4 different ASEs this year?

1) proof
2) uncirculated
3) bullion struck in WP
4) bullion struck in SF

Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

That is only if you consider (W) and (S) different issues.

I consider them to be a different coin since they come from different mints. Some people think they are the same coin, but if they are minted in different mints I'm not sure how they can say that. It is more than buying a label since this is the best way to make sure you have one from each mint unless you are buying monster boxes. I won't buy slabbed proofs or burnished ASEs but I will buy the different bullion coins in slabs to make sure I have different coins. To each there own when it comes to your ideals on collecting ASEs. Plus I think the SF coin generally looks more frosted than the WP coin.

If the bullion coins are minted in both places with no mint mark, how exactly do you tell which mint it came from? From a monster box packed at the mint?

Yes, the monster boxes are labeled from which mint they came from. I can't afford a monster box so I will wait until they are graded and sold by the big dealers.

All those graded bullion ASE's indicating the Mint came from sealed monster boxes.

What a racket. You can call them different even without mint marks.

I'm sorry, I usually keep my feelings about ASE's private but this is hilarious.

ssuperDdave.. I agree.... it has become an issue, in this case, of buying the label.

If you collect coke bottles from 1955, should you have one from every bottling plant in the country?
I guess it's all in the eye of the buyer.

Like I said to each their own. They come from different mints, that is a fact. I'm glad I was able to amuse you. I will collect my way and you can collects yours and we will agree to disagree.

teach... it isn't for me, if it's for you, that's great... Like I said, it's in the eye of the buyer... meaning, we all have our particular interests. I wasn't trying to make fun of you.

Well, do you separate your 1974-1986 Lincoln Cents minted in West Point from those minted in Philadelphia? Both mints created them without mint marks.

Because they are sold as bullion.

If people want to collect them separately, that is fine. I do not collect ASE at all, so I really cannot judge the nuances.

And if you want to be serious you would also buy the Birthday Set (contains a proof), the Unc Dollar Set (contains the UNC, of course) and the Limited Edition silver set (contains the proof) to ensure you have all the packaging options. There could well be another coin & currency set as well in 2015...

I swore I wasn't going to get into this (W)/(S) thing again..but..I just think if someone puts an ASE in your hand and you cannot tell where it was minted then it is the same as every other ASE that would be put in your hand....

Just sayin'...it's a label kinda thing
