Hello again, I was going to purchase a gold coin and after doing lots of searching I found what seems to be a fair price? Seller wants $425 for this coin, not graded obviously.....Is this fair? Edited by sandwich5027 01/05/2015 7:15 pm

Well at melt value, that would be pricing it at 1700 dollars an ounce... That's the way I would look at it. Don't know specifically about the grading or being a proof, but interesting.

APMEX has them with box and COA for $451.13 so it is below retail if you get the box and COA with it. If it is just the gold you want, they have random year in just capsules for $366.13 What are you buying it for, a set, a numismatic investment. If it is just to have a beautiful gold coin, there are a lot iof beautiful gold and proof gold for a lot cheaper.

I guess I like the idea of the year being a smaller mintage, but I don't know if that means anything anymore(Or recently)....So the numismatic value and a beautiful coin too....

Do your market research on the premiums for this issue before deciding to buy. Don't worry if you miss it, there are lots of others about, if you go looking.
I you feel you have missed an oportunity, that is OK. I have long since learned that lots of other different and unexpected bargains can surface.

Update....It does have the paperwork....I misunderstood the seller. So $400 and not a penny more or less. I've looked everywhere and can't find a better price so I'm going to pull the trigger. Thanks for all the input. My first American Gold Eagle yay!!
