What causes the Lincoln to tone silver like that? and the dime? almost seems unnatural, but they are in cellos. these are 3 different sets. what would you charge for a set like these? thanks!

I don't think the cellos are airtight, so exposure to air pollutants could cause such toning. Alternatively perhaps the air within the cellos was polluted at the mint.

The pre-1985 mint sets have a thin layer of PVC in them that will destroy the coins in time. The worst are the '69 sets. All of the '68-P cent coins have carbon spots now if they are still in the packaging.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

Hi there...can you turn on your "accept email" setting in your profile so that I can respond to your message you sent me in Private on Jan 5.

I like those toned mint sets!

Thanks, Brandon

The Dime is nice, but anything which will do that to a Cent, I don't want my coins around. Methinks this is a set safer broken out.

I would break that dime out while it still looks good.

It probably goes without saying that I would have cut that set apart the day I obtained it.

There's always a risk if you leave in the mint packaging that it will progress until the coin is black and ugly. When I find a nice toner like that - I always break it out and put it into an air-tite.
