Hi everyone! It seems like my brother has sparked an interest in coins. I'm so proud of him :D. He beat me to the gold coins by getting the woolly mammoth one. He collects fossils and has some mammoth bark, so it made sense that it's his first gold coin. Here it is: It's small, but still really cool for all the detail they get into it. I would love to get one someday, even though it's really expensive. But that day is a long long way away! Erin :)

It is expensive, $279 + shipping. It sold out from the mint sometime in 2014 with a mintage of 3000. My brother got it from ebay. But, it is awesome and I'm really jealous! Erin

There is also the 1oz silver version which is a bit more affordable. I really like the small gold coins as well and have all the 25c & 50c ones but, as you say, the $5 and up ones get a little more expensive! If your brother likes fossils, get him to check out the $4 silver series than ran from 2007-2010. You can see the pictures at http://www.jandm.com/script/getitem...ID=5&PID=294

Thanks for the link, kuh_85.
I wouldn't mind some of those myself. Unfortunately, I went way over budget at Christmas, so coin shopping is on hold for a very long time. :(

Providentmetals lowered their prices for both the gold (US$239.95) & silver (US$69.95) mammoth - and they are part of the free shipping (to US only) campaign. I bought the silver one, really like the design, although it is a dud in the secondary market. I'm not sure when the next in the series will be released though - nothing announced thus far.

That is a beautiful gold Mammoth coin, I am envious as well. Johndakerftw, you definitely like the prehistoric fossils and animals. Thanks for showing this Erin. Happy collecting.

Provident Metals really isn't offering any sort of deal, as GateWest is still lower than them. This coin and series, like others, has been a dud. No doubt Provident wants to try and unload what they have tho again, thats no deal there. That said, I like the series, looks good. Its just too over priced, I'd rather stalk ebay and wait for a better deal myself.

There must be a GLUT of these coins. First one dealer was trying to make a big deal out of a sale they had when in fact, Gatewest had a better price... but if you look at ebay there is a GLUT of Woolly mammoth silver coins going anywhere from 48-54 shipped... gold coins theres a few auctions of slabbed ones that should go for cheap as well. probably around 208-212.... man this coin must be going for like 50-60% off list...
