A friend gave me some foreign coins and this Turkish 5 Kurus was in the lot. It looks really weird like a lot of Cud or something. Any ideas?

Looks like some nasty Die Deterioration... at least for me, the term " Cud" is used for a die break at the edge of the die (rim).
