This is a circ'd coin. It's really just an excuse to show you this pretty coin, which I bought raw and is now in an NGC holder, but anyway... Guess the grade.

xf-45 to AU-50? Hard for me to see enough detail from the pictures. Others with better eyes will see more.

I will say AU-50 even though I can't see the detail in the pictures either so this is actually just a guess. The pictures are too dark and not big enough to actually see the detail to determine the grade that it may be

I don't know if these are any better. I monkeyd around with them:

with the flatness of the forehead I think I can see in the pictures I think I am going to knock it down to the XF-45 level, if it were a Jules Reiver coin then it still may have graded AU-58 or so just because NGC overgraded most of his collection I have seen

I thought it was EF too. NGC thought otherwise (honestly, this is a very nice coin and I'm curiously unconcerned whether it's undergraded, since I don't intend parting with it soon) but just barely: 1826-1c

Although that's pretty strict grading, there's no shame in calling that a "choice" VF. The difference may simply be in the amount of wear on the headband.

Thanks for lightening up the pics. The wear on the headband probably dictates the VF-35 grade, thought the rest of the coin seems very, very nice and worthy of XF-40. Thanks for sharing.
