Went to my first show today thanks to T360 telling me about it. Lots of stuff there for the small room, and I'm also glad I didn't bring a list with me. What I did find was this 1921 Morgan with cool cracks. Don't really care about the grade overall, but I think probably a solid AU. I'm just posting pics of the die cracks I thought were cool. For $14, I can't complain...

that above that "M" is pretty dramatic, I would say that die didn't last long after that coin was struck. All that being said I wish I could help with what specific VAM it was but SuperDave is the 1921 expert that I always go to with 1921 questions

I love those 1921 Morgans. The story behind their striking and the flaws with the dies make for some interesting coins to be found.

Thanks for posting

VAM-1L. Not rare, and available in Gem, but dramatic. There are two die states; the later die state shows polishing between "n G" of In God We Trust, and through the bottom of the ERI in AMERICA. I'm thinking this is 1L1, the earlier of the two, but I haven't seen one of the later 1L2's. Yours has better-developed breaks through the date than either of the two which have passed thru my collection.

I knew you would know what specific VAM this one was considering the large break above the "M"

Thanks Dave and Bryan. I assumed it was nothing rare. I'm just happy to have so significant of a crack. If it's worth $14, I'm happy....

It's a lovely coin, and those cracks really do make it a unique sort of piece to own. And.. if you're happy, then it was worth the $14.00.
