Looks like it could be a 1979D-1MM-003. Check coppercoins.com and see if any of the markers match.

looks to me like the broken punch - "D"

very common - if thats what it is - I fell for it also, when I first found out about the broken punch.

the bottom serrif - looks like it has a "vee" notched out of it..

Yes it is a damaged punch issue. Happened on many dies that year. You can find it also on different denominations for that year as well.
