So where does PCGS draw the line to be called ungradable?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1932-S-Wash...t_454wt_1106

Normally I do not even give heavily circulated Washingtons a second glance but the description got me.
It looks like it has been harshly cleaned and the wear is uneven and the color is awful.
So why is not detail graded?

That coin was slabbed before PCGS issued "Details" grades, hence the GENUINE notation with no listed Sheldon grade. Prior to the GENUINE notation, PCGS would bodybag(ungradable) problem coins but that made no logical sense at all since a coin should be gradable based on the remaining details as long as it can be positively indentified.

Looka at it this way....you can not assign a "grade" to something that is "un gradable". See the decimal point the two numbers after that are the problem code. http://www.pcgs.com/grades/

92 means cleaned. ...just tells you they are genuine.

I see. You can tell my knowledge of plastic holders is not extensive. When I do buy them it is not long before I help the coin escape!

I hear ya Tryna! I collect almost exclusively old coppers so not so much plastic here either. Yet, How did G.I. say it..... "Knowing is half the battle"
