I have a 2003 alabama State Quarter that appears to be gold on both sides. Upon weighing it, it is the exact same weight as a normal US Quarter, which indicated that it hadnt been dipped. Was wondering if anybody had encountered anything like this?

It looks toned to me, I had a bunch of State Quarters in a folder that turned a golden color like that.
Rest in Peace

I think you have a gold plated quarter. These were sold on HSN or some other tv shopping show. They are covered with an extremely thin layer of gold. The amount of gold is so small that it would cost more to remove it than the gold is worth -- note the weight of the coin.

After they sold as many as they could and people found out they were worth exactly 25 cent a piece, they started showing up in the wild.

Keep it as a novelty.
