I can't see anything with the pictures you posted. Try this link to see the clash possibilities. You can try different lighting too to see if you can get a better picture.

yes right between the V and nose looks to be an upsidedown U, with a serif (squared) close to touching the bottom of the I, as for what,how or why, I'm really not sure.

Looks a bit like the indentation of the letter R
