On the obverse of this quarter around the 2 o'clock position the rim looks like it is melted? On the reverse the word "America" is all blurry looking. The entire surface on both sides of the coin have a grainy appearance. Thanks for looking/responding

I agree. It looks like it was in acid. Is the copper on the rim missing more on the reeding?

I just found one exactly the same. My first thought was acid. One side doesn't seem to badly effected on it so I wonder if that is consistent with acid. Shouldn't the corrosion be even? Ill try to put pics up tomorrow. Probably PMD nonetheless though.

Depends on how it was done. Dipped would make it total. Dropping acid on one side would affect just one side where the acid touched it.

looks like it has been bead blasted.
A cleaning technique often used for old normally unseen automotive parts.

All of the reeding appears normal. It is worn but intact.

What is PSD rather than PMD?

Post Strike Damage denotes that something happened after the strike. I like that term as it sets a time line.
PMD makes it sound like it happened after it left the mint. Coins get damaged before they leave sometimes.
Coins dropping onto other coins creating bag marks/damage.
I use the PSD as it indicates it happened after the strike rather than after it left the mint.
