If I was really pushing it I would say that it could have been a pattern or test coin/medal. However I don't think so. As far as I know the United states has never struck a coin or medal in that fineness of gold.

It is probably one of the mini coins of the smallest goldcoins of the world at 10 to 11 mm diameter and probably only 585 goldcontent
or half of the gross weight mentioned
These are a pest
Last week one went for 121 euro for 0.6 gram gold

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I will steer clear of it... I have seen many mini (nachpragung) german coins floating around and this looks like another

A private mint token. Could be .999 fine, but can't see the pics good enough to tell.

In theory the word nachprägung means restrike and should be allright like the 1908 100 corona
Up to now I never found out how to distinguish a real from a restrike
I mean this coin
http://cgi.ebay.de/1908-Hungarian-1...cmdZViewItem

Watch out for the word Gedenkprägung ( commem ) and the dreaded 10mm

http://cgi.ebay.de/Gold-Gedenkpraeg...cmdZViewItem
When I see this guys name I do not read the text anymore

Also watch out for the word goldtoke
Again 10 mm and again a vendor I do not read anymore

And of course Kleinsten Goldmünzen der Welt
Smallest coins of the world
