I haven't received this yet, but it's on the way!

This seller is trustworthy, but bad with pictures. These are the sellers pics, and description:

"Glossy reddish chocolate and light olive with a crimson stain under STATES. There is fine porosity at the 2 and star 1, and traces of old verdigris under UNITED. No other notable detractions with AU sharpness"

Sounds exotic huh? I'm guessing it would be xf45 and maybe net to 40 for the porousity and verdigris. What's you think?

AU details. Late die state. The corrosion kills it though.

looks like it has AU sharpness but the eye appeal to me is lacking with the stated problems. Did you have to pay close to AU money for it?

Closer to xf money jerry. This one was difficult for me to figure out. I ended up buying because of the sharpness, and the fact that it's still slightly red; however, I have no idea what it will actually look like in hand, because the seller is just not good with pics.

maybe my preference but I like the old coppers to have more of a milk chocolate color. I posted a coin a couple days ago that was an 1846 year that had the color I like. Also the price I like to pay for them. The color on your 1840 coin was much better in my opinion.

Just looks a bit too clean for me. Hard to imagine the coin wouldn't have any crud whatsoever on it.

I would go with AU details: environmental damage. It appears to have a little bit of it's mint luster. Struck from very worn dies. Not a bad purchase!

Environmental damage? Interesting. I wouldn't have thought of that.

The coin appears to have the beginning stages of corrosion by the date and 3rd to 4th stars. United States appears to have a little bit of corrosion or verdigris. It looks like the early stages of environmental damage. Given the grade and that alternatives are not difficult to find(unless this happens to be a rare variety), the tolerable number and severity of problems for problem free examples is not going to be too much.

AU Details.
I might consider trying to remove the verdigris to possibly stop the corrosion from getting any worse. (Any thoughts?)
