Jason lynch Valued Member United States 57 Posts	Posted 01/13/2015 12:47 pm I thought you all might like to here the story behind this candian dime I found a few years back in pocket change. When I looked up info on it I found out that during 1968 Canada was in the process of switching over from silver to steele coins for cost reasons and the fact that citizens were begining to hoard silver coins. Towards the middle of that same year the canadian mint realized that it was unable to keep up with the number of coins needed caused by switching things over for steele coins. Long story short they enlisted the help of the United States Gov. and the Philadelphia mint to help mint dimes. Since Canada does not have mint marks the way to tell if the dime was minted in the US is to match up the reeded edges. * Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. * Report this Post to the Staff

JimmyD Bedrock of the Community Canada 21584 Posts	Posted 01/13/2015 3:40 pm I find the easiest way to tell the difference is to look at the groove in the reeding. 'V' shape groove, minted in Ottawa. Flat bottom groove, minted in Philadelphia. Report this Post to the Staff
