Yeah, no doubt about it; its artificial. Any natural toned coin I've ever seen has not had colors that even faintly resemble the ones on this coin.

As a general rule, AT ruins any collector value the coin may have had.

that's AT. I've seen similar colors on proof Wheat cents but even those are extremely rare to find and not as vivid as these.

IMO, that's starting to move away from "artificial toning" towards "environmental damage".

Yep, purosefull toning. I usually dont mind if it is purposeful, but that one is too much.

I found a few colorful wheats but they aren't as shiny. Couldn't tell ya if they're natural for certain but I think they're pretty.

I wouldn't jump on the wagon so fast...

That's a proof, they are known to tone like that. Also, I suspect the camera angle is really bringing it out....I'm on the fence but these are usually cheap so why not....NT.

It is easy to acquire the skill needed to artificially rainbow tone coins with heat.
That is why so many responded to this thread with "AT".
