1971 D Top Heavy Letters Error?

The letters get wider closer to the top of the letter, or top left of letters like T and Y. seems different than other fat letter versions.

Looks like you have a Struck Through Grease error on your coin. When the grease fills part of the devices, a lot of detail disappear and the letters look wider. The devices are actually tapered to not get stuck on to the die.

This makes the height of the devices look shorter and flatter looking.
