Hi everybody..curious if this is just a well-preserved mint state 1921-P morgan, or, a more desirable proof strike? The crispness has me wondering? Also, why is the N in IN have that odd missing right piece in the middle..never seen a N like this.

It's almost certainly not a "proof" (there were no official ones), but it does look like a pretty good strike. Oddly enough, we're discussing one of the 1921 "proof" dies in the other active 1921 thread in this forum.

I saw that thread, and, of course, was looking for markers...that N "chip" intirgues me, as the does not appear to be any scuffing, of contact marks in area, suggesting a die issue?

The "N chip" would have to be a fill, of course, as that spot is a void in the die. It's a really interesting feature, though, not seen often. The strike is pretty good; I'll call it great if the cotton bolls, talons and largest bottom leaves are fully detailed. Can't quite be sure from these pics.
