Recently acquired this note from the son of a ww2 vet. I believe it was issued in Winnipeg on "If Day". Does anyone have one themselves or know any info about it? If not them I'm sure you will all just appreciate the history of the note.

Neat old note probably telling the Canadian people to stand up to the aggression from the Nazis and support your govt., but not sure but worth keeping. Lot of History
I also have 40-50 notes from my Sons father in law. He was a Korean and WWII War vet. And these are mostly all from the Pacific front, plus a 1900 Can.25 shin plaster and 1890`s Cuba and early Mexico pesos. Also North Korea, PI Some peso with Victory overprinted etc.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/If_DayFor those of you who don't know, "If Day" was a simulated German invasion of Winnipeg in 1942 to raise awareness for the war effort and to prompt people to buy more war bonds. It turned out to be very successful and lots of war bonds were sold after this. You can read about it in the link I provided. 47P7 I am not sure who the guy on the note is but it is an imitation of a German banknote from that era.

Not sure about this particular note, but the person on the note is Albrecht D. Thaer, born on May 14, 1752. He was a physician and agriculturist. He went to Berlin at the request of Frederick William III to teach agriculture and practice medicine. He was well liked and before he died on October 26, 1828, he was honored with being placed on the 10 Reichsmark German note.

I should add that the date on the 10 Reichsmark note is January 22, 1929. If anyone is a collector, the pick # is P180.
