Quote: And perhaps I can post my 1628 again in a few hours? You are certainly welcome to post it when the time comes. I do not mind the repeats. Sure, we do these later editions hoping to attract new contributors, but that is no reason to shut out those who helped the previous threads move along.

Why so many coins from Hungary and other eastern European countries?
Serious question. Did they mint loads of coins in 17th century?

@demarco bishopp, yes many minted and many saved means that they are relatively inexpensive for collectors today.

That is why I am trying to put a complete set of denars together because they are inexpensive enough to be doable.

Will we accept this 1625 (and go to 1624) or wait for a better (more obvious) one?
I sadly cannot help in either direction (I have an 1626 coin, which I had not photographed, and an 1622 coin that I did, but no coins from 1625 or 1624).

We can go to 1624. The date is determinable by the mint mark only being used in 1625. That is all that matters.

I even double checked in my newest book, North's English Hammered Coinage. I managed to get both volumes at the PNNA show on Saturday for just $60.
