@coincollector2012, you have a fine collection of uncurculated Washington quarters. Mine were mostly plucked from circulation when I was a kid.

1949 cupro-nickel halfcrown from New Zealand. Like the UK, NZ eliminated silver from circulating coins after 1946.

1949 Newfoundland Commemorative In 1949, Newfoundland became the 10th Province in the Dominion of Canada. The obverse shows Explorer John Cabot's ship the "Matthew".

Thank you so much for your compliments. I have posted most of the Washington quarters I have. I don't have one for today, but I will have another one tomorrow. The good news is if you guys like my quarters, you will also like my Mercury dimes. Quote: I took some pictures of a few years .. I hope it is ok to post some of my also.

1948 British halfcrown. This date used to be extremely common in change when I was a little boy!  1948 was the last year that British coins showed "IND IMP" (Emperor of India) as part of the King's titles - India had become independent the previous year!

The first 5 yen coin made of base metal. Just 18 years earlier, 5 yen coins were made of gold.  Showa 23 = 1948, 22m 4g Brass. Reverse (left): Diet building / value Obverse (right): Pigeon / Country name and year
