The only coins issued for circulation in Great Britain in 1952 (not counting the unique penny and halfcrown - and the mythical English Shilling which is listed in some catalogues!). Production of George VI coins ceased after the King's death, and the Mint started preparing for the new Elizabeth II coins.

Here is a bronze 1952 Libyan 1 Milliene - it took quite a few Google searches to date this coin to 1952. The bust on the front is King Idris I - interestingly enough, Idris was the first and only king of Libya reigning from 1951 to 1969.

A nice one, with decent degree of Machine Doubling on the date, and a nice die clash on the reverse, from the King's ear.

1950 French aluminium-bronze 20-franc piece: The last 20f gold coin was issued in 1914. The denomination reappeared as a large sliver coin from 1929-1939, and this was the first issue of the final design, in aluminium-bronze. Designed by Georges Guiraud, there are several varieties of the 1950 coin: - Mintmarks - none for Paris, B for Beaumont-le-Roger - Tail feathers on the cockerel - number varies - Designer's name on the obverse can appear as 'GEORGES GUIRAUD' (scarcer) or 'G. GUIRAUD'.

NumisRob- Just to let you know that I look forward every day to see not only what coin you have selected, but also the "history lesson" that accompanies it.
Keep them coming.
