Its actually Japanese. Probably a 1 Mon, unless the reverse has a bunch of waves or overlapping half circles, then is a 4 mon. Looks real to me. These are cheap and there is little reason for someone to fake them. They are not dated, but was made from the late 1600s to the late 1800s
I don't know what it's like in America, but around here, many coin dealers have an "Asian cash coins - $2 each" bowl, and this is just the sort of coin you're likely to find in it.
