One of two coins I bought recently after taking a break from buying .

Paid 54$ for this one.

How'd you grade it?

Thanks for looking .

VG08, looks a bit too clean, but maybe it's the scans. Still a nice coin though.

I would say VG-8 overall, the obverse looks f-15 to me.

It does look cleaned but otherwise unmolested. Obverse is Fine+ with a VG like RK55 noted. I'd go F12 details on it. It would likely grade Fine Details - Improperly Cleaned.

I would put it in a high sulphur paper envelope or set on on a windowsill for a few years.

I'd say VG 10, but as noted, it's been cleaned, and not kindly cleaned.

VG-Details Imp Cleaned. Although IMO, you did end up overpaying as a problem-free VG can he had for the same price.

I'm personally really worried about how clear LIBERTY is on her forehead. Almost looks like someone tried to restamp it or something, definitely cleaned as well.

That reverse is worn too much for me to give it anything better than a G-6. But I like the coin overall.

VG-8. Not a bad deal. I like the high sulphur idea.

I grade it a well-spent $54 and a highly interesting coin. Just how did the huge disparity in wear come to pass? It stops you in your tracks. A postmint event nasty enough to cause that much wear (smoothed by circulation) should have smeared metal yet none such is seen. I think that kind of event is contraindicated here.

So what, then? This is far off the beaten path.
