SolarPenny Valued Member Canada 234 Posts	Posted 01/22/2015 11:17 pm Hi, I have found someone local who is selling this coin and I have thought about going to take a look at it since it seems reasonably priced. I'm just looking for some advice on things to check for to see if its a possible fake. I know to bring calipers and a scale to measure the weight and dimensions to make sure they line up with the standard values. Unfortunately the pictures he provided are not very good quality. The "D" in "Dollars" looks kind of off to me compared to other pictures that I have been able to find online. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. Report this Post to the Staff

This is a common date that trades at a modest premium to melt in circulated grades. If you know what genuine $10 Indians look like and all the physical characteristics check out then you'll be fine. I have a similar book for Canadian coins but have just started getting into American ones, sounds like a good idea to pick up one of those red books bpoc1.
