I found this nickel a few months ago and was unsure if this was an error or just PMD. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry if the pictures are not the best, I'm still learning.

It looks like a lamination issue that peeled off your coin. Silver Nickels had a problem with that more than any other denomination. Possibly the war error during that time was hurried to make the stock silver during that time?

If this had happened over a device, then we would have seen the ghost image of that device.

If not a lamination then I'd say a cracked planchet.
