Dear fellow collectors, I recently purchased this example of 10 centimes 1832 Everything seems fine. However, the edge is smooth and not reeded. So I was wondering: Is this a proof coin? I have browsed through auctions but I only found proofs in silver. Is this an error where they just forgot the edge? Or is this a copy? In this is the case this must be the best copy I saw from this coin but nevertheless, everything is possible. Edited by jagoedo 01/24/2015 3:37 pm

Cant help with authentication unfortunately Jagoedo, whilst studying the pictures I am sure I can see a die clash. Maybe just my eyes but there is definitely something there especially the top picture.

is there a chance that this country struck any other coins of this size that had a plain edge? ifso it could be a collar mule.

Hi, The weight must be 20 gr, very exactly. If not 20 gr, you have a chinoise fake.

For me it is just important to know if this coin is a copy or not. If I compare it with the chinese counterfeits, it doesn't even come close. The design is much sharper en nicer as it is with the original examples.

Update: Contacted the seller to give me some more information on where he got the coin from. He told me he bought it at an antique fair in the USA. Possibility is that this could be a restrike which was done a few year later.

Quote: Hi, The weight must be 20 gr, very exactly. If not 20 gr, you have a chinoise fake. These coins left the mint with a deviation of 2% on the weight so it can be somewhere between 19,6 g and 20,4 g. Mine is 19,6X which is within the range
