im very frustrated since many of the 1999s look doubled, but I know its probably just the way the light is hitting them. I'mhaving a really hard time figuring out what to keep, so I dont throw out the good one.

is there another marker? is the particular variety described in coins and canada in fact a doubled die? the picture appears not to be.

One of the Double 99 errors #158 is from a deteriorated die so in fact yes it does have to do with the die and the length of time it was in use. In the photo I can see doubling on the bottom of the leaf closest to the date as well. The doubling in both of the examples is pretty apparent, with a large offset in the numbers in the date and a noticeable step, just keep your eyes peeled. A loupe helps, especially for dimes and pennies. Sometimes you have to turn the coin at subtle angles to catch sight of or to photo the doubling.

so its a shelf doubling? I'msorry, I'mnot very knowledgable in doubling. I was hoping the doubling would be at the same thickness as the main numbers, but from what youre saying it would not be. most of them seem to show doubling when turned so the light hits them just so, but I think most coins do that as well. I cant see it being worth a premium if most of the ones I find are doubled. there are two varieties of this? does anyone have additional pictures to compare?
