Just curious about the "quad stripes" variety, is it common or reasonably findable? Seems like it should be visible in lower grades.

Wiley & Bugert call it R3- overall yet no less than R3+ in any grade and R7 in Mint State. Heritage calls it something like 7 total out of 643 sales of 1873-P. I call that pretty scarce.

All you need to know about Seated halves, courtesy of David Lawrence Rare Coins:

Between that and the Heritage archives, one can make accurate conclusions regarding the rarity of any Seated Half, in any grade, with high-res images of the varieties. While you're there, check out the rest of DLRC's reference library. Amazing resource.
