"How low can you go?"

I thought this'd be a good one with which to celebrate my thousandth post.

The question I'd have is, with a possible mintmark obliterated, whether any of the "Big 3 + 1" (NGC, PCGS, ANACS, & ICG) would actually certify it?

Appears to be a 1922 PO-1 I doubt the TPG's would grade it though, maybe I'm wrong. Is it worth the 15 bucks to find out? Not in my opinion.

I am knowledgeable of these lowball Peace dollars ... as a lowball fan my set is currently #2 in the PCGS Registry.

Believe by photo that your coin is not likely to certify ... the date is clear ... but the date/mm must be identified specifically in order for any TPG to authenticate the coin.

You can always take the chance ... there are nine (9) PCGS certified PO01 1922 Peace dollars ... so even if certified, this is an unusual but not rare coin.

Congratulations on your of 1000 posts!

I've been continuing to examine this coin under the highest magnification I have available, and varying the lighting angle, and I think I can just barely make out an "S" - I just don't know if it's definitive enough.

So if submitted, would you expect it to come back "bodybagged" or would it matter to whom it was sent whether that was the result?
