I recently purchased a coin graded by NAC. Wondering about the quality of this company and if they are on a par with some of the more well known grading companies. thanks for any help. Tom E.

Numismatic Authentication Company?

Don't know why crazy kids nowadays need three words to say 'junk.'

If the coin was nice and you like it and you didn't overpay then the plastic it's in doesn't matter. If you bought a circulated coin graded as uncirculated for an uncirculated price then you should be unhappy. Simple as that.

I have to say the coins I have seen in NAC were very badly overgraded (most I have seen were labeled as MS-67 even though the coins look very circulated) but if you paid for the coin going by your own grading ability and only paid what you though the coin was worth not going by what the plastic says you could have still gotten a pretty good buy

Never heard of the company and I agree completely with halfbust. I always try to figure out what a coin is worth to me (regardless of the TPG) and let my max bid reflect that. Of course I place a few TPG's ahead of the rest but graded or not, some coins hold little appeal for me.

In summary, the quality of the company is not very good and they are not on par with PCGS, NGC, and ANACS.

On the other hand, your coin is probably fine, though it is very likely of a lower grade than the slab would indicate. We're all hoping the price you paid was appropriate for its actual grade, rather than the grade listed on the slab.

I hope you bought the coin and not the slab. Its one of those companies that sells a fantasy grade for their coin. Most of their coins would never grade that high.

Also never heard of them. Lots of new TPG services poping up and even now counterfeit slabs and companies.
How about some additional info? Such as type of coin, photo if possible, cost if you don't mind, location of purchase, etc.
