Hello all, I recently started CRH (about a month ago) and I found this, which seems to be LMC 1999 WAM. It is very dirty and copper seems to be peeling off. If it is indeed a 1999 WAM, does it makes sense to have it graded as well. Also, What's the good/recommended way to clean and preserve this coin?

I don't usually clean coins not a good practice. That is a WAM from what I can see. You could soak it in acetone to remove the grime etc. and if you get it graded they may detect that it had a acetone bath. According to the Strike It RICH with pocket change .....book it's worth $175 in Extra Fine and $275 in uncirculated condition. As I was once told to get it graded you must first join PCGS or NGC so that would be an additional cost to consider as well.

Thank you BadToTheBone for your suggestion and additional information, much appreciated. I will consider your advice regarding having it graded.

I would not clean it or have it graded. It is the real deal, but the green is not a good thing. So it would be a hard sale. I would keep it till you get a better example, then give to another collector.

Nice find! And only after a month...to think how many 1999 that have been flipped by many CRH members here without success. You are off to a good start!

Good find I just started looking for those . Don't clean it . Do what coop said and keep it till you get a better example and then either give it away to someone who collects and doesn't have it or if you want to make anything sell it on the Bay or something. Really up to you but Def a WAM

Great find . Condition is an issue. Does anyone think some Verdi-Care is justified? John1

I was thinking if it wouldn't be submitted then why not slow the degrade with verdicare. So maybe so?

if you plan on selling it, I would sell it raw after treating it with verdicare. You have a high probability of getting a details grade if you submit it to be graded.
