Bought this coin as unknown .. and I do not have a clue on what this might be.

The colour on the scan is a bit misleading .. is more towards a silverish colour and very thin coin that weights less than a gram and the diameter is 20mm.

Might be silver or zinc .. is very thin but still sturdy. Most probably would be a common coin but then again I do not know anything about it.

Thank you all in advance for your input.

Doesn't look like a coin for me, but rather a token of some sort.

It is a "good luck" token from Iran (Persia). It is usually given around new years as a gift to someone. The writing on it translates to "owner of time". Hope this helps a bit.

Correct; it's one of the sort of decorative pseudo-coins tossed about at weddings, Persian New Year, and other celebrations. This particular one has been seen on the forum before, most notably by member Apollo just after he joined the forum; one of several threads he posted about it is here. The inscription, the same on both sides, reads "Ya Sahib Al Zaman" in Arabic; literally translated "Oh Owner of Time", it's actually a reference to the Twelfth Shi'ite Imam, the Mahdi, whose second coming is eagerly awaited by Twelver Shi'ites.

As you can see in the old thread, I was thrown by them too, and EgCollector didn't actually give me the answer back then. I believe they are diacritical marks, not numbers. The "3" (which is just a small shallow w-shape) is probably a "short a" vowel mark, while the "4" is probably a hamza, or glottal stop.
