To celebrate the year of the sheep, you can mint your own token for free at the mint of Winnipeg. The even says february 7th, but it's usually for a weekend, so it might still be going on. If you're from Winnipeg, you can maybe call before going to confirm. Being in Ottawa, I can't go, but if someone manages to get some tokens, I'd love to trade it for one from Ottawa. Good luck!

I live in Vancouver and I will have my Vancouver sheep token around February 17, 2015. If any onw has Winnipeg or Ottawa sheep token and you want to have the Vancouver sheep token, we can trade them so that we can all have sheep tokens from 3 cities.

Snowy day in Ottawa - I went in this morning (Saturday) and the place was empty... I brought a few error coins with me to show the staff - which they thought were cool. It was the usual strike-your-own machine... made a couple of off-centres, grabbed a blank planchet, dragged my kids along, so I have a few extra for friends and trade. Still trying to find someone in Winnipeg who has an extra one - so far, I have a complete collection of these tokens from Vancouver, Winnipeg and Ottawa.

Here are some photos from my little trip to the mint on a cold, snowy Saturday afternoon: I finally managed to get a blank (planchet) of the strike your own tokens. There was nobody there, so with flashing a smile and a little charm, the lady working the machine let me rummage through the "reject pile". Here is one where the dies were not aligned when the token was struck. This one, some kid would not stop turning the wheel, so it got struck twice, with a slight rotation in collar, then tossed in the reject pile. Double struck, 2nd strike about 30% off-centre. Again, from the reject pile.

They would not (wisely) let us load more than a single planchet in the press. In the past though, we have done a double strike flip strike... https://goccf.com/t/142094

Someone in is selling some of the Vancouver struck tokens... considering that they were free, it is sad to see them so expensive. Hopefully, the RCM accountants don't see this!! We don't want them getting any more money-making ideas!! http://www.ebay.ca/itm/RARE-Canada-...161606815939

I just received my trade with a CCF member out in Vancouver - I was surprised to see that someone in Vancouver, clashed the dies!! You can see the raised metal, with the ANAD of CANADA in mirror image...
