so there is a little something to the lower right of the mintmark. Could this be a rpm, or have I just been staring at it too long?

No. If there was a mint mark in that area, it would be taller than the die scratches. The lines of the die scratches are very visible. It looks like some kind of stain in that area. Also the shape is distorted and too small to be a mint mark. Just your eyes playing tricks on you.

Thanks Coop! I didn't think about the die lines being taller, but that does make sense. This forum is great, so many knowledgeable people to learn from!
