I like the small silver dollar boxes from the '80's and '90's, with the little gray sleeves. Pretty fine package you have there CC, nice.

Excellent point Commems. The packaging certainly helps with the story behind the coin and it's design. Another I really like is the 1998 RCMP Privy SML set though don't have a pic on hand that I can post. As I recall, it includes a booklet and some other things in blue fabric covered 3 fold box.
Other notables are the tin cases that held the 12 coin Canadian Sports 50 cent series issued between 1998-2000. Again, don't have a pic readily available to post.

I wish the RCM can go back to their roots and produce great packaging. I'm hoping with all these maroon boxes that they will run out soon. Maybe they have another 10 million boxes in a warehouse trying to deplete their orders.

Ok well since most of my RCM coins are in boring old Maroon clam shells I guess I will put my 2013 gold superman up, although I am not a big fan of Paper boxes I suppose this one is not too bad. I could put up my Dr Who Box/Tardis but its not RCM...

Too bad about the 2013 Gold Superman, they had a chance to be innovative, the 2013 Silver Superman coins have a nicer display. Sorry Northern, likely the most expensive coin of the lot has the worst paper packaging.

I liked these metal ones that came with the Aviation Series 1990-1999. There was also a larger one that held all 10 coins, looked basically the same only a lot longer.

This was another attractive metal case. I didn't particularly like the look of these, but they made displaying the coin very simple and most of that ugly red plastic was hidden then.

Here is the box for the 1908-2008 First Coinage of Canadian Mint Stamp and Coin set. Even the box itself is a piece of art.

Great thread, sure has been some wonderful examples over the years. The case for the 90th anniversary is very nice as well. If I can find mine I will include a photo. A nice presentation case makes the coin or set a thoughful & attractive gift. A person doesn't need to run out and purchase a separate case to lend class to the gift. I love those cherrywood display cases used on the coin show. The presentation just makes the coins pop. So of course the wooden display cases are my favorite. Followed by the lotus lunar case, it's very attractive. For the silver dollar I prefer the cases from the eighties, there's a certain elegance. My least liked is the red plastic, cigarette type display of the early 2000's it's just tacky! I do like a quality display!!
Yes I collect coins, however, I'd like to have a stunning display case. Buying a third party case just adds to the cost. When the mint as a volume buyer can source them much cheaper. Then when paying for shipping might as well have an attractive display. I see a coin and it's display case as a complete ensemble, and not seperate components divorced from each other.
