I am currently going through a box of Kennedy halves and found what seems like an extra piece of metal stuck in between the leaf and eagle's claw. Please, let me know your thoughts and share if anyone has encountered similar pieces before.
Thanks,

Regular/normal eagle has three claws and a thumb, but right after three claws (from bottom) in a row there is extra metal making it fourth. That should have been a gap between the leaf and third claw. One on the top is normal.

Without looking at a regular half for comparison, I would call it a die chip.
