I must start by saying Hello, I am new to this forum but look forward to learning so much from all of you. Now my question...I am a novice at looking for errors. To tell the truth I am bad at it. Almost everything looks like an error to me. Anyways I always check my change faithfully. Today I came across a 1964 Lincoln and on the reverse in "United States of America" The "F" is an "s" just like the one under it in "E Pluribus Unum" and then on the top half of the "s" is the top half of the "F" The "s" under the "F" is very clear. I even had my husband check it out with out telling him what I saw and he noticed it right away. I have never seen anything like this before and am wondering if someone could please shed some light on this for me.

If there is a way to post a picture or a scan of the coin, we can give you a better idea. There are a few possibilities as to what this might be. It might indeed be an error but it can also be some type of damage intentionally inflicted upon the coin before you found it. We will be happy to help!

Thanks,

Bill

I would love to see a picture if it is at all possible. As was stated it could be allot of things including dropped letter (which would explain it being the same size as the "S" in pluribus and it could also be a counterstamp that someone did after the minting process but a picture would be the only way to tell what it was for sure but a dropped letter would be very cool to find

My digital takes really bad up close pictures. I will do my best at trying to post one though. I never really thought I would ever have to. I check my change faithfully and everything looks like an error to me. So unless it is something as plain as this one I don't bother checking it out I just tuck it away for maybe later when I get better at errors. This one though is worth checking out so I will do my best at posting a picture. Thank you

Too bad there's really no way anyone can help without some visual aid. If a camera won't do it, try to scan it. I'd go with the camera first.
