the weight of this coin is 12.64g, while it's supposed to have 13.5g. this is a loss of about 9% of weight. So I am wondering if this could be a fake coin? I would really appreciate your opinion. thanks

In this type of grade, is it worth faking this coin? I am no expert on the type, but I would imagine a counterfeiter would aim a little higher. That scratch right down the bust really detracts from the coin

I'm not a half expert but I do collect Draped Liberty large cents and it looks real to me. Notice how the stars are broken out to the rim. That's indicative of a late die state. Who would try to fake that?

It's genuine and heavily worn so the weight loss is acceptable. The obverse damage really kills the numismatic value.

The obverse damage will really hurt the value, but it looks real to me.

Genuine United States half dollar. It's an Overton 109a.

Too bad on the scratch. Otherwise I think it would make a PCGS holder at AG-03.

While the general consensus is that it's genuine (including myself), the next step is deciding whether or not you'll be O.K. with it in your collection.
