Im new here and kinda new to collecting too. I have been searching the internet for the past 3 hours for albums that will hold canadian pennies I'm tired of keeping them in a jar, I havent found any that ranges up to year 2012. Can any of you send me in the right direction of what albums to buy for canadian coins

I moved your post to the section for supplies. There should be several threads here about albums and folders.

That is a real tuff one. I purchased a Whitman Folder full of Canadian Cents but the Folder was in bad shape so I put all the coins in a jar. Sound familiar? Now I too have been searching for a new either Album or folder for them. I hate ebay so I've been trying coin shows, coin stores and on line dealers. So far, nothing. Guess in the USA just not much interest in Canadian coins.

Re folders: I cannot get my coins into the holes. This has always been an issue for me- I just cannot seem to make the right moves to get coins to 'snap' into place- they always wind up with one edge hanging out. Some are worse than others- Nickels are the worst because of their thickness. What I have taken to doing is to take a worn coin then pound it into place with a hammer in the hole I need to fill then insert the coin I want to put there. I just bought some Canada folders (Whitman) and those are worse than the ones for US coins- any suggestions?

Most just haven't noticed your in Canada. Prior to ordering anything from the internet places, always check about shipping charges to Canada. Might find it cost more than people think. I too have been looking for Canadian Albums here in the USA but just not easy to find. Folders are fairly easy but just not Albums.

Sometimes I have to put pressure on the folder a bit, 1989.

Put the folder on a hard level surface, like a table. You can use your thumb if force is required, but use a soft and clean cloth to protect the coin from fingerprints.

Quote: Anyone care to comment in reply to my post above? Not being able to insert coins into my folders drives me crazy! Oldest and best suggestion is to simply use a coin of one size larger. Use as a sort of drill. by that I mean take the coin and use in a sort of circular motion to enlarge the hole. Do it gently though and only for places where the coins are new. Older coins may tend to fall out if this is done. Folders are purposely made so that the top of the slot is smaller than the bottom. This is done so once a coin is pressed into a slot, it does not fall out. Some people place a coin into the slot on an angle then push real hard on the edge that is still sticking out. Usually the coin will pop into place. As to the availability of Canadian Coins, a similar post was recently made and checking into the place and type he mentioned, it would cost way to much to have one Album shipped to me in the USA. Looking into it I find almost all the places mentioned here for a possible Album is just way to expensive but not for the Album but for the Shipping charges.
