OK guys,
Hears a 1921 Peace dollar that I am asking for your grading opinions.
Please give numerical grade if you can.Its not as dark as it appears.
Has anybody heard of a variety where a RAY goes over the L in liberty?
Thanks for the responses

I am no Peace dollar expert but there are a number of VAM's for them in the book, I will look in a few minutes and see if I can find something in the book about it

Edit: I looked and they all go over the LIBERTY on every Peace dollar, that being said there are only 2 VAM's for 1921 Peace dollars one is from regular dies and that being a VAM-1 and a VAM-2 that has doubling in "PEACE" slightly to the left.

Edit#2: I just re-read the thread and saw where you was asking about the ray going over the "L" in Liberty and I have to say I see nothing aboiut it in the book for 1921

yours may have some slight doubling in the "PEACE" area from the way it looks but I am not 100% positive from the pictures

I'd grade this VF-30.

Are you sure you mean a ray over the L in Liberty? The rays don't come even close to the L.

The VAM with the ray through the 'L' is a VAM-3, but the ray is not touching the 'L' in LIBERTY, it dissects one of the L's in "Dollar" on the Reverse.

BL,

I don't see a VAM-3 in your coin. The lower leg of the first 'L' in Dollar on a VAM-3 is broken (not completely) by the vertical ray ... see the previous photo. Your 'L' is completely intact. Here's a link to all the attributed VAM's for the 1921 Peace. It also has links to Morgan VAM's. Have fun with it ... you won't get any sleep for the next couple of days.

Id give this coin a xf45 designation...im not a numismismatist, but I do play one one the web...vf30 seems a bit stingy given the eagles detail on the breast feathers though flat
