If the appearance of frost is accurate, we'll call it Mint State for the purposes of argument. From the detail pic of the cheek, there's no way I'd exceed MS62 for this coin, even though the fields look decent. Is it in an MS67 third-world slab? Report this Post to the Staff

The mint frost on both sides really looks very nice; only the nicks and scuffs on the cheek and over the eagle's breast hold the coin back. The strike looks above average for a New Orleans coin. I've never heard of an uncirculated Morgan dollar being sent as a rebate. I wonder if this coin in it's Armour envelope would sell for a significant premium? Maybe to the right collector it would be a rare and desirable item! Report this Post to the Staff
