I am starting my Mercury dime collection which appears to be a tough road on the key dates.. here is a 1939 D that will kick start the collection as I want slab coins and highest grade I can afford.

That's a nice one. Are you considering prooflike Mercs as well? Or MS-68 that are not FB?

MS 66 FB is about as high as I want to go on common dates but there are deals out there on non FB in the highter grade stuff as you say.. but that 1916 D is going be rough lol.. proofs when a deal pops up..

TPGs don't make a distinction between FB and FSB.

FB or full bands and FSB or fully split bands are the same exact thing. Kind of like XF and EF are the same it just depends who writes it.
