I have really fallen for the idea of embarking on the classic commemorative (in MS) quest, but I have neither the money nor the time to devote to this endeavor.

Therefore, I thought of saving up for and purchasing the three Civil War related commemoratives (Gettysburg, Antietam, and Stone Mountain) and turning those into a (really) short set.

Has anyone else done something like this?

Collecting the Civil War related issues is definitely one of the ways folks create a mini set to pursue.

If you do go after it, you may want to consider adding the 1922 Grant half dollar and/or 1918 Illinois Statehood (Lincoln) coin. Others I know have done so - it makes for a historically interesting and attractive set.

Good luck with whatever you decide! Keep us posted!

Definitely something to consider. I actually live in Illinois, so owning the 1918 Illinois statehood issue would be extra interesting!
