I was curious as to how many modern comemmorative coin programs have been authorized and a count of each of the denominations/types (halves, silver dollars, $5, $10).

Starting in 1982 and continuing to this year, 2015, there have been 64 different commemorative coin programs authorized. These have been struck in proof and uncirculated formats available individually or in various sets.

Notes: The 1983/1984 Olympics counted as one program. The 1995/1996 Olympic counted as one program.

Half dollars: 21 designs

Silver dollars: 71 designs

Gold $5: 30 designs

Gold $10: 2 designs

Bi-metallic: 1 design

It would be interesting to know how many have a market value below, equal, and above issue price.
