I was rummaging through my grandfathers things and I came across this coin. I was searching the internet for hours to find out what kind of coin it is, but I can't figure out the year the only thing I figure out was that it was a fridericus borussorum rex coin. I appreciate any information anyone has to offer about this coin.

The pictures are not good enough to make everything out - if you have a multi-function printer, try scanning the coin.

But having said that, it would be a coin by one of the Friedrichs of Prussia (Borussorum Rex = King of the Prussians).

Thank you for the reply, even scanning it it would be the same the coin is quite old and faded, I researched and found alot that looked alike with it, except I cannot find one with and VI underneath the silhouette like this one.

Scanning may produce an image easier for us to see the coin. If you crop out the back ground the coin will show larger.

@ 'granita': scanning can actually show up details you have difficulty to see with a loupe. The 'VI' under the bust indicates most likely 6 Kreuzer, but could indicate 6 Groschen as well. Ideally you would find a trace of the date, which should be at the bottom of the reverse (your top picture). That would clearly indicate which Friedrich issued the coin.
